So I finally managed to finish this piece and to be honest I’m extremely proud to have done it. Click-through to find this as my lastest submission to DeviantArt!
I got some inspiration, move apart the comic style in where I’ve been submerged all this long time, and made this fresh semi-realistic portrait.
Trying to go back to my origins and put some more effort on colors and paintbrushing, definitely worthy I think.
Hope you enjoy as much as I did!

Leaving comic style apart for a bit, here’s a blast to the past drawing some realistic portrait just for fun.
That means (hopefully) new artwork coming.
Here’s a gif showing all the steps done for this study, enjoy!
As previously said, I’ve been pushing these days to get this study of Aline’s character finally done! It shows a full turn-around of her figure, dressed up with her main outfit. I hope this will be useful as a consistent reference.
You can check some more sketches from this on my facebook fanpage. Like and follow so you don’t miss any update! :)
Come on England, can’t you handle a proper summer? Do you really need such rage thunderstorms at night to balance the weather?
I couldn’t take any pic of the storm, though… I was in bed trying to sleep… so here’s a random gif of a lightning.
Something I missed to do and it’s key when defining a character for a comic, is to work on a consistent reference for the body shape.
Now I’m trying to set Aline’s anatomy all around with detail, enhancing her musculature for a proper athletic look while keeping it natural. I’m diging lot of references to learn the most and I’m having tons of fun with the study.
There’s more doodles to see on my fanpage and more to come soon as I put more details in. Come on have a look!
I’ve never been a real fan of hero comics, but this Batgirl re-design carried on by Stewart and Tarr looks quite interesting to me! Worth having a look at the process, amazing artwork and fanart on their blogs (link on names).

My friends, here are the lines I did for the cover of Aline's first volume.
In this final stage of the project I tried to work more on shadowing and black fillings, which I think give a better look to the picture: it looks way more professional and attractive than the plain contour I used to draw.
Furthermore, I though the rendering could help Stéphane towards colorization.

So that’s the comparison between old and new art, it’s been 4 years already!

I have been working on an all new clean character sheet for Aline, considering there’s been a time I’ve been working on this project and my skills have improved a bit. Both linework and colors are mine.
I’d like to share this, taking the chance of the upcoming first volume of Aline, which will be available very very soon.
The current progress is almost 1/3 of the colorization is done and it’s going pretty quick, but more live news are posted on Stéphane Richard's fb page.
